How this is worked out

  • Average cost is total money in divided by total shares held — it is not the average of the two prices, unless you bought the same quantity each time.
  • Buying more at a lower price pulls the average down, but it also puts more money into an idea that has so far been wrong. Averaging down is a position-sizing decision, not an arithmetic one.

On NEPSE

Broker charges are not included, so this is your price, not your cost basis for tax. Bonus and right shares change this figure — they have their own calculators.

This is a calculator, not advice. It works out arithmetic from the numbers you enter — it does not know your circumstances and does not tell you what to buy. Rate defaults were last checked in August 2026.
