The numbers on the screen
LTP, open, high, low, previous close — what each one is, and which one actually matters.

A price screen shows a handful of numbers that look interchangeable and are not.
| Number | What it means |
|---|---|
| LTP | Last traded price — the price of the most recent actual trade |
| Open | The first traded price of the session |
| High / Low | The extremes reached during the session |
| Previous close | Yesterday's closing price — today's change is measured against it |
| Change / % change | LTP compared with previous close |
The high and low are worth more attention than they usually get. A session that opened at its low and closed at its high tells a different story from one that did the reverse, even if both end at the same LTP.
