10 courses, all free

Where to go deeper than we go.

Our courses teach you to invest on NEPSE. These are full university courses on the theory underneath that — corporate finance, accounting, statistics and economics — published free by other people under a licence that lets us point you at them.

None of them covers technical analysis.

We checked all 105 courses in the catalogue. Not one. That is not a gap in the catalogue — technical analysis is not taught in academic finance curricula, which is exactly what our own technical analysis section says about where each method comes from. Its primary sources are the public-domain classics, and we host those.

BIGEL-IFA

Introduction to Financial Analysis

CC BY 4.0

LibreTexts (Kenneth S. Bigel, Touro University) · Intermediate · about 4 hours

A full university text on reading financial statements: ratio analysis, forecasting, the time value of money, and interest rates, valuation and return.

How it fits here. The fundamental-analysis counterpart to our technical pages. Everything here applies to reading a NEPSE company's reports — the statements are the same shape; only the regulator differs.

BUS202

Principles of Finance

CC BY 3.0

Saylor Academy · Undergraduate · about 40 hours

A full university course on corporate finance: time value of money, risk and return, capital budgeting, cost of capital and capital structure. The most complete free treatment of the theory behind valuation that we could find under a licence permitting reuse.

How it fits here. This is the course to take after our fundamental-analysis chapters if you want the theory underneath them. It does not mention NEPSE, Nepali tax or the rules a Nepali investor trades under — read it for the reasoning and apply it with our chapters alongside.

BUS103

Introduction to Financial Accounting

CC BY 3.0

Saylor Academy · Undergraduate · about 40 hours

How the three financial statements are built, from journal entries through to a published balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement.

How it fits here. Our balance sheet, profit-and-loss and cash-flow lessons teach you to read a statement. This teaches you how one is constructed, which is what makes the quality-of-earnings questions in the advanced course make sense.

BUS105

Managerial Accounting

CC BY 3.0

Saylor Academy · Undergraduate · about 30 hours

Cost behaviour, budgeting and the internal numbers management uses to run a company — the figures behind the published ones.

How it fits here. Useful for judging margins and cost structure when comparing companies in the same sector, which is most of what fundamental analysis on NEPSE actually involves.

BUS204

Business Statistics

CC BY 3.0

Saylor Academy · Undergraduate · about 40 hours

Probability, distributions, sampling, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing and regression, worked with business data.

How it fits here. The maths our volatility and indicator lessons assume. If the warning that 'two standard deviations does not mean 95% because returns are not normal' did not land, this is where to go.

MA121

Introduction to Statistics

CC BY 3.0

Saylor Academy · Introductory · about 30 hours

A gentler statistics course than BUS204, starting from descriptive statistics and building to inference.

How it fits here. Take this instead of BUS204 if the business-data framing is not what you want, or before it if the material moves too fast.

BUS601

Financial Management

CC BY 3.0

Saylor Academy · Graduate · about 40 hours

Graduate-level corporate finance: valuation, capital structure, dividend policy and working-capital management.

How it fits here. The step beyond BUS202. Its dividend-policy material is directly relevant to NEPSE, where cash and bonus dividends drive a large part of the return.

BUS614

International Finance

CC BY 3.0

Saylor Academy · Graduate · about 30 hours

Exchange rates, balance of payments, international capital flows and the risks of operating across currencies.

How it fits here. Nepal's rupee is pegged to the Indian rupee and its economy runs on remittances, so the balance-of-payments material is more relevant here than the currency-trading material.

ECON101

Principles of Microeconomics

CC BY 3.0

Saylor Academy · Undergraduate · about 40 hours

Supply, demand, elasticity, market structures and the behaviour of firms.

How it fits here. The machinery under company analysis: why a hydropower firm with a signed power purchase agreement has a different cost and revenue shape from a bank, and why a business without pricing power cannot protect a margin.

ECON102

Principles of Macroeconomics

CC BY 3.0

Saylor Academy · Undergraduate · about 40 hours

Growth, inflation, unemployment, monetary and fiscal policy.

How it fits here. Read alongside Nepal Rastra Bank's own publications in our official sources section. NRB's policy decisions move the banking sector, which is the largest part of NEPSE by market capitalisation.

These are indexed, not copied. The licence would permit copying with attribution, but a course unit is mostly links to third-party readings under their own separate licences, so mirroring the shell would produce a page of other people’s links with our name on it. Courses from MIT OpenCourseWare, OER Commons and OpenLearn are absent for a different reason: they are licensed NonCommercial, which a site published by a business cannot use.
