- 18.17%
Show the working
- Absolute = (Rs 1,65,000.00 − Rs 1,00,000.00) ÷ Rs 1,00,000.00 = 65.00%
- CAGR = (1.6500)^(1 ÷ 3) − 1 = 18.17%
How this is worked out
- Absolute return says how much you made. CAGR says how fast — it is the steady annual rate that would have produced the same result.
- CAGR is the only fair way to compare a holding kept for eight months against one kept for five years. A 60% gain is excellent over one year and poor over ten.
- It says nothing about the path. Two holdings with the same CAGR can have had completely different drawdowns along the way.
