Costs and tax

Buy and sell cost

What a round trip actually costs once commission, the SEBON fee and DP charges are added on both sides.

Your numbers

Rs
%

Brokers charge on a slab, so a smaller trade pays a higher percentage. Take the rate from your broker's current slab.

%

Levied on the transaction value, set by SEBON.

Rs

Flat, per company, per settlement — it does not scale with trade size. Charged on both the buy and the sell.

The rates above are defaults, not facts. Commission slabs, the SEBON fee and tax rates are set by regulation and revised without notice. These were last checked in August 2026— confirm them against your broker’s statement or SEBON before you rely on a figure.

  1. Buy value = 100 × Rs 500.00 = Rs 50,000.00
  2. Buy charges = commission Rs 180.00 + SEBON Rs 7.50 + DP Rs 25.00
  3. Sell value = 100 × Rs 560.00 = Rs 56,000.00
  4. Sell charges = commission Rs 201.60 + SEBON Rs 8.40 + DP Rs 25.00
  5. Profit = Rs 55,765.00 − Rs 50,212.50 = Rs 5,552.50

How this is worked out

  • Commission and the SEBON fee are percentages of the transaction value, so they scale with the size of the trade.
  • The DP charge is flat per company per settlement. It is charged on the buy and again on the sell, and it does not shrink for a small trade — which is what makes frequent tiny trades expensive.
  • Capital gains tax is not included here. It is charged on the gain, not the transaction, so it has its own calculator.

On NEPSE

Charges are withheld by your broker, so the figures on your statement should match these. If they do not, the rate you entered is not the rate you are being charged.
